Spillover Control on Secondary Mirror Support Struts

نویسنده

چکیده

Scattering of ambient radiation into receivers by secondary mirror supports can potentially degrade performance of radiotelescopes. A geometry for the support struts with slanted planar faces to keep scattering sidelobes close to the antenna pointing direction is analyzed. Scattering of the plane wave is within ~15o of boresight, while the spherical wave scattering is within ~1o of boresight. Less than 0.5 K additional noise is predicted. Some other contributions to the antenna noise are also discussed.

An Investigation into the Performance of Excavation with Inclined Struts Connected to Adjacent Buildings

One practical excavation support system is the inclined struts connected to adjacent buildings. This method is very common in small excavations, because of simplicity and minimum cost, when soil is cohesive and depth of excavation is less than stability depth (Hcr) but adjacent structures is at risk of damage due to weakness, old age or lack of proper skeleton frame. Although this method ...

Organizational Learning and Knowledge Spillover in Innovation Networks: Agent-Based Approach (Extending SKIN Framework)

In knowledge-based economy, knowledge has a public good and non-rivalry nature. Firms build their own knowledge stock not only by means of internal R&D and collaboration with partners, but also by means of previously spilled over knowledge of other firms and public research laboratories (such as universities). Firms based on their absorptive capacity, and level of intra-industry and extra-indus...

Design study of 8 meter monolithic mirror UV/optical space telescope

The planned Ares V launch vehicle with its 10 meter fairing shroud and 55,000 kg capacity to the Sun Earth L2 point enables entirely new classes of space telescopes. NASA MSFC has conducted a preliminary study that demonstrates the feasibility of launching a 6 to 8 meter class monolithic primary mirror telescope to Sun-Earth L2 using an Ares V. Specific technical areas studied included optical ...

Immediate Effect of Mirror Therapy Using Pegboard Training on Hand Function and Muscle Activities in Individuals with Asymmetrical Hand Function

Objectives: Hand function is critical for daily life and work, especially with the use of electronic devices. This study determined the effect of mirror therapy in individuals with asymmetrical hand function. Method: Forty-two men with asymmetrical hand function were recruited. All participants were randomly divided into two groups: sham control (n = 21) and mirror therapy (n = 21). Both group...

Optical Bench Assembly for the Near Infrared Camera

The Near Infrared Camera is the primary imaging instrument on the James Webb Space Telescope. This instrument operates in the wavelength range of 0.6 to 5 microns and at a temperature of 35K. Two mirror-image optical paths or modules are utilized to provide two adjacent fields of view for science observations and redundancy for the purpose of wavefront sensing. All optical components are suppor...
